Augustus- Into Frames

Boulder’s Augustus has dropped what we’d consider to be Colorado’s strongest pysch-rock/mashup album of 2015. Everything from bluegrass to folk and the occasional slam of the rock hammer can be found on the band’s new release Into Frames. Emotional lyrics stray from tear-jerking sorrow to reflective happiness. Allowing the trifecta of guitar, cello, and banjo to share lead duties at points throughout the album, Augustus truly demonstrates their diversity.

Their music is, at times, reminiscent of The Yawpers- they bring a heavy, head-nodding energy to styles that are typically presented in a much calmer way. At other points, they are as psychedelic as anything out of sixties- Augustus has a unique ability to seamlessly transition between tempos and moods.
